Christian Wirth

Christian Wirth attended Claude Delangle’s classes at the Paris Conservatoire and there he was unanimously awarded a first prize in the saxophone competition and first prize with honours at the chamber music competition. He then completed postgraduate studies in saxophone and chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire.

After getting numerous national and international prizes (first prizewinner of the International Adolphe Sax competition of Saint-Nom La Bretêche, best young interpreter of the Festival Musical d’Automne des Jeunes Interprètes), he has recorded Berio’s Sequenza for saxophones with DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON under the artistic direction of the composer.

This saxophonist who plays with the Harmony Orchestra of the Garde Républicaine has also performed on Radio-France and on French television channels such as Arte and France 3. As a soloist, Christian Wirth has played with orchestras, among which the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre des Concerts Lamoureux, les Solistes de Paris, l'Ensemble Jean-Walter Audoli, l'Orchestre à cordes de la Garde Républicaine, Ensemble Musique Nouvelle...

Christian Wirth has performed under conductors such as Pierre Boulez, David Robertson, Michel Tabachnick, Jonathan Not, Michel Plasson, J.S. Béreau, Luca Pfaff and Peter Ernst Lassen ; he has played with prestigious orchestras such as the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre National d'Ile de France...
